Middlesbrough vs Manchester United

Seems like the warm reunion between Jose Mourinho and his former Real Madrid sidekick Aitor Karanka will not happen because he was sacked on Thursday by Middlesbrough. Steve Agnew will be in the opposite dugout to Jose Mournhio. He would have the responsibility to keep Boro in the top flight. He would hope to face a fatigued United side after their narrow with against F.C Rostov on Thursday.

Ibrahimovic and Herrera are suspended domestically and they will be joined by Pogba who sustained a hamstring injury in the match against Rostov. United are on the verge of becoming the first team to reach 600 wins in the division.

Middlesbrough meanwhile are without a win in their last 10 Premier League games. Agnew is hoping to have Bernardo Espinosa and Rudy Gestede available for his first game in charge.Defender Espinosa and striker Gestede limped out of last Saturday’s 2-0 FA Cup quarter-final defeat by Manchester City with hamstring problems, but both have resumed training with the latter closer than the former to making himself available.

Midfielder Adlene Guedioura is available after being cup-tied last weekend, but Boro will once again have to do without injured defensive trio George Friend (calf), Daniel Ayala (hamstring) and Calum Chambers (foot).

Daley Blind is a doubt for Sunday after sustaining a bump to the head and captain Wayne Rooney’s availability is unclear after sustaining a training ground knock.

Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw and Bastian Schweinsteiger will be hoping to be selected after training away from the main group ahead of the Rostov game.

The last domestic outing was disappointing for both sides, as they were knocked out of Emirates FA Cup, with United going down narrowly at Chelsea and Middlesbrough falling to a 2-0 defeat at home to Manchester City. That match turned out to be manager AitorKaranka’s final one in charge of Boro, as he was relieved of his duties this week.

United sit at the sixth place in the league, a point behind Arsenal and six behind the fourth place Liverpool. Meanwhile Borohave fallen into serious trouble: they currently sit in the relegation zone in 19th place, three points adrift of Crystal Palace and the safety of 17th, and just three points ahead of fellow North-East strugglers Sunderland.
